Ruben Pang is a passionate, intelligent, charismatic young artist whose work defies the convention of geographically grounding an artist to their birthplace rather than recognizing that young artists are individuals, not simply products of a geographically bounded socio-political location. While Pang is based in cosmopolitan, multi-cultural Singapore, his own conviction and aesthetic language define his work as opposed to geography.
He is a 2010 Fine Art graduate from the LASALLE College of the Arts.
Amongst his awards, he received the prominent Georgette Chen Arts Scholarship, the Winston Oh Travelogue Award and earned a place as a finalist for the Sovereign Asian Art Prize 2010 and 2011. The Singapore Art Museum (SAM) featured his works in "The Singapore Show: Future Proof" exhibition, in which he was identified as a rising star of Singapore contemporary art scene.
